The Amoun Restaurant   Amoun Restaurant Luxor
It is not my intention to advertise or promote this particular establishment, even though I have eaten there and can recommend the cuisine. This restaurant is, however, of interest to readers as it played an important part in Ken's life in Luxor.
You will find many references to 'The Amoun' in Ken's writing. It was his meeting place, watering hole and court. Being in the centre of town, it is an ideal place to sit and observe. Given time, the whole of Luxor will eventually pass by, and many will call in for a cold drink and warm conversation.

The letters listed are not in chronological order. I have kept the order alphabetical, for ease of displaying them on the website.
Once you begin to read the letters, you will become familiar with the various characters and, as they did for Ken, they will become your friends as well.
You will also discover a completely different way of life, and I cannot help but wonder how many of us would have reacted as positively as Ken did to such a change in culture and lifestyle. But maybe his outlook on life is what made Luxor so appealing to him. You will be able to decide for yourself, as you settle down and read some of Ken's entertaining Letters from Luxor.

Enjoy!
