Learning the Basics of ProShow Producer

This page is intended for anyone new to using ProShow Producer
and is an extension to the 'Help for New Users' page.

I have always found it easier to learn something new by 'doing' rather than by listening to instructions or just reading about it. For that reason, I have devised a few simple exercises which I hope will help you better understand some of the features of ProShow Producer.

Each of the pages in this section has a Printer Friendly (pdf) option, so you can run off a hard copy to work from. If you don't already use a pdf reader, you can download Adobe Reader by clicking on the link. Adobe Reader

Borders & Vignettes
In this section, you will learn how to add Borders and Vignettes to your photos.
ProShow Producer offers us a simple way to add outlines to our photos, but that option
is limited in its flexibility. Here, I will show you how to add a variety of different borders.

Keyframes
Of all the features in Producer, this one seems to cause more confusion than any other,
which is odd, as it's not that difficult to learn, once you have a basic understanding of
the function of keyframes and how to set them.
In this section, you will learn how to insert and set keyframes.

Solid Colors & Gradients
In this section you will learn how to create Solid Colors and Gradients and insert them
onto individual Layers.
Once you have mastered this section, you can then move on and learn how to use them
to create effects in the "Masking Layers" section below.

Slide Styles Having worked through the sections above and learnt how to create your
own effects, you will want to be able to save them as Slide Styles. That way, you can use
them again in the future without having to spend time remaking the effects.
